John Porter Doors Policies and Commitments

John Porter Doors is committed to ensuring that our business is conducted according to ethical, professional and legal standards.  This forms an important part of our wider responsibilities to the assurance of quality; for the health, safety and welfare of our staff and customers, and our environmental and sustainability awareness.  Our formal Policy statements can be viewed at any time, on request.

Our commitment to quality

We are a leading supplier of products in the timber doorset industry and we operate an enviable quality control system to ensure that our products are supplied to a high standard, meet essential legislative requirements and achieve 100% delivery reliability.  The quality system employed by John Porter Doors is subject to continuous assessment and is reviewed by senior personnel on a regular basis.

Our commitment to health and safety

We adhere to a strict and formal policy for the continued health, safety and welfare of our employees and everyone affected by the Company’s operations. Good standards of health and safety are essential for our continued success and we review our policy every six months in order to measure our achievement against pre-determined targets. We meet the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Acts 1974, the provisions of the COSHH regulations 1988, and the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1992.

Our commitment to health and safety for on-site delivery

Safe delivery of your order is important and John Porter Doors will take responsibility for in-house haulage or the selection of a competent haulier with trailers suitably adapted for the safe delivery of doorset pallets.  We will undertake the Risk Assessment and will provide contractors, in advance of delivery, with details of the weights, dimensions, configuration and layout of the doorset pallets.

Our commitment to the environment

The overall environmental policy of the Company is to ensure that we comply with all environmental regulations that apply to our activities and to continually improve our environmental performance.  This is achieved by setting realistic targets for improvement and in particular the assessment of our timber procurement chain; power usage; conditions on site and the reduction and removal of waste during manufacture.  We are committed to operating our environmental management system in order to comply with the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard and to maintain independent verification of our compliance.

We recognise that our business has an impact on the environment in terms of waste generation, the use of raw materials and emissions to air and water.  John Porter Doors is committed to protecting the local and global environment and accept the responsibility to ourselves, our workforce and our neighbours.  We are continually assessing our procedures in order to improve our performance and will work with suppliers and subcontractors to help them improve theirs.
